red hot on valentine's

Hello lovelies! How was everyone's Valentine's? 

Mine was spent by lonesome, drinking vodka out of a wine glass, eating mexican and crying buckets watching The Notebook for the nth time! Yup, no date for me and a boy. I'm kind of used to not spending vday with any guy actually. I think the last one where I actually did was 2005 with my college boyfriend. I would always spend my Valentine's Day with my friends going out, having dinner, drinking and watching a movie (I think last year was spent with mom at home, having dinner, drinking vodka mango and watching "The Lovely Bones" and "Up in the Air."). Yes, for the past 5 years I actually got chocolates and flowers from my best friends and not from my boyfriend. I know it sounds awful but it is not as bad as it sounds. There are valid reasons that are beyond anyone's control. But it wouldn't hurt if I actually have a boy to spend it with.

Although I didn't really spend Vday out, I thought it wouldn't harm if I actually wear my red coat for my post-Vday post. I got this coat at F21 while shopping with Amy one fateful Wednesday evening. I've always wanted a red coat and it is perfect indeed cos I got it for just $18 (I think) and it was originally $52!!!

 

My weekend was more eventful though. I went to Chinook after my work on Saturday, spent an awful good 2 hours by myself shopping. I mostly spent it at Zara trying on just about every sale item on the rack. In the end, I got this printed paper bag trousers for just $9 which was originally $45!!! Then the boy arrived, we had Greek dinner, nibbled on popcorn and soda while watching Blue Valentine. It was a bit stressful and depressing that movie! But Ryan Gosling will forever be hot in my eyes--whatever hair cut he may have ;)

HAPPY MIDWEEK LOVELIES :)

so here are some other photos from my bday weekend (as if my celeb on my exact bday wasn't enough! see bday blog post here)...it was surprising that the skies cleared out for my bday weekend because last week was just freezing! it was i think 22 degrees celcuis last saturday and although that would be like baguio weather already in the philippines, it felt hot! i think my skin is slowly adapting to canada's weather...which is a good thing because ever since i got here, all of my concerns are skin-related. i had soooooo many issues!!! luckily, my skin is getting better and i now know how to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! :)

so i had an extended celebration last weekend. it was a small celebration because i don't really know anyone here YET and even if i know people, they're from far awaaaaay. canada is just too big, man, i'm telling you! so i had 5 guests--my sister, my brother-in-law, my friend (from the PI and now from cochrane) grace, grace's hubby, steve and my brother-in-law's officemate and now my friend too (cos we are bounded by local showbiz chismis HAHA), carla. i had a small filipino feast of pancit (for long life, of course!), lumpiang shanghai, lechon manok, lechon kawali, escabeche, veggies and a black forest cake c/o carla :) yes, it was too much for my 5 guests. i ate leftovers until yesterday. LOL! and to make the filipino feast complete, may videoke at inuman :)

about the outfit...i was feeling alexa chung-ish ;) that's all.

judging from my last post, you might think that i'm a cynic and i am bitter about love. 

sure, i've had a couple of bad break-ups and 

i am sure that i have shattered a couple of hearts too somewhere in time.

but i believe in love.

i still believe in love.

call me old fashioned but i love the madness in love.

i love the feeling of getting up each day knowing that someone out there loves you. 

i love the feeling of not being able to sleep because you are so mad with your partner but then you can't sleep because you know in your heart you still want to be with the same person tomorrow.

i love fighting for the smallest, stupid, ridiculous things and then making up for them. 

i love those silent little conversations and inside jokes that only two people can understand.

i love the feeling that you cannot live with this person but you cannot live without this person either. 

i was supposed to write about what my ideal guy would be like. 

i've been writing about it all week but i hesitated for some reason

not because i believe that there is no perfect partner 

but because i believe that love comes in many forms. 

love comes in different levels.

true love doesn't only mean romance and passion but sometimes true love means 

friends, family, dogs or whatever or whoever makes you feel happy.

i may not have the perfect partner or lover but i have true love. 

i have true love from my friends and my family and the best unconditional love from my dog. 

true love exists. 

as for romantic love, it can wait. 

it will wait.

the most important lesson i've learned about love? 

"Keep away from people who belittle your ambitions.
