not so white lady

dressed as a white lady in a dress from my grandma's closet

i saw this beautiful dress in my grandma's closet when i was looking for something to wear for PFW and i thought it was so amazing! look at the back!!! I DIE!

so i thought of going as white lady at the halloween party last night but i didn't. why? because i am not white! LOL. seriously, i can never give justice to white lady. i put powder on my face, trying to look pale and its still not white. LOL.

i really wanted to go as catwoman too but i changed my mind the last minute and dressed as...DRUMROLL... you will know soon!!! HAHA!

sorry for the suspense but i will show you with pics as soon as my cousin uploaded the pics =)

hope y'all had fun this halloween! share with me who you guys were!

team LC

i'm a goody goody girl with my goody goody friends*

"Boys are like purses. You're always gonna have that one boy that you're always comfortable with and you know you'll always kind of like. That's your purse that you wear everywhere. Then you have that gorgeous bag that you want everyone to see you with but the gorgeous bag is usually an asshole or costs a lot of money. Then you have those other purses that you really like but you really don't want to be seen with."

i think i am slowly becoming LC and not Kristin but i'm kinda liking it =)

so what kind of purse are you strutting (or not)? LOL.

*super long ago picture with my BFFs nez and nelly

P.S.
who will you be this halloween?

flower power times two

flower tube dress/skirt given by a friend. tank top from a bazaar. Janylin peep toe oxfords. Artikel cocktail ring.

my friend jeane gave me this flowery thing because she said it fits her awkwardly and she thought it might fit me better. sad to say though, when i went home, it is awkward nga! ok, here's the thing, it is actually not like you see me wearing it. the flowers are actually at the bottom and not at the neckline/top portion. when you wear it in its original position, it really fits you in the funniest, weirdest and most awkward way. however, i find the flower detailing really awesome so i wanted to do something about it (so many flowers too in runways!).

my first idea was to really make it into a tube dress (3rd and 4th photo) but then i have this brighter idea of making it into a skirt =) sad to say though, it still looks a little weird cos of the ruching...makes you look like you have the biggest puson in the world! so not flattering! LOL. but you can't say i didn't try =)

here's a glimpse of the show:

ford model winner: Chat
congrats!!!!

and

the after-party: Kipling's & Martini's at Mandarin Hotel

so, just as promised, i will redeem myself from last wednesday's PFW outfit. this was the outfit i was supposed to wear then but i got shy from the press people that i will be with and i am never really the type who wants attention. weird to say but i kind of like blending in =)

the outfit was better this time but compared to the show last wednesday, this one was boriiiiiiing! as in, i kept on yawning and my cousin kept on closing her eyes! HAHA. i guess we are both more interested in clothes than the models strutting them. nonetheless, our picks were the ones chosen for top 3 so i guess we have the eye for it? hmm... i secretly knew chat will be the one to win because she's the only pinay looking out of the top 3. although, bea alonzo's look alike was really stunning and surprisingly, janina san miguel was actually pretty in person. LOL.

the crowd was a little less fasyown last friday...so much for blending in. the show was actually full of relatives of the models from their lolos and lolas to their bunso. so, sad to say but i wished the shows switched so it would be perfection. LOL.

i guess it would be less boring if there were hot male models, don't ya think so? =P

Coconut Oil

I used coconut oil for the first ever this past weekend and I must say I LOVED IT! My hair felt so soft, moisturized, and look the way it felt. I picked up the coconut oil from Whole Foods for only $6.99 and I can tell that it is going to go a long way.

I cleansed my scalp with Dudu Osom liquid black soap, deep conditioned LeKair Cholesterol for one hour, and then applied the coconut oil while my hair was still damp. Let it air dry and then styled in a bun for the week. I am trying really hard to protect my ends to see how much growth I can achieve.

The next day after air drying over night.

The bun I plan to wear until the end of the week. I have two braids in the front, inspired by a picture of a model I saw one one the many websites I visit. The pic makes it look frizzy...but it came out really nice and the compliments are stacking up.

happy shopper in an oversized lace vest

oversized lace vest and cocktail ring from a friend. tank top, shades and ballet flats from a bazaar. People R People skinnies. leaf necklace from BKK. thrifted chained sling bag.

the original plan was to go thrifting as my belated bday treat to abby but then she found out about the robinson's tent sale and so we went there instead. we were early shoppers (was there as early as i think 11 am) even if i slept 4am the day before cos of PFW and some after-party (will post the pics soon, still waiting for my cousin to post them)!

we had no other choice but Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and Warehouse since the other stuffs are very pang-magulang and there are no other brands on sale. i told myself i will stick to my 1,000 budget and i did! well, because i really have no other choice... i have no dough anymore =(

what did i buy? i bought two skirts actually which are both size 14 or 16 (both from dorothy perkins)?? basta. bought them cos i am little ms. project runway and because they are only 499 each (guess cos they are so big and no one will buy them. lucky for us who are sewers!) =) the first skirt was a hand-painted (not sure what to call it) tulip skirt which was originally 1, 900. i love tulip skirts cos it gives me balakang which i do not have at all! LOL. i did alter it when i got home and it is perfection!!! the other one was a zipper skirt which was originally 2, 200. i love it also cos it can double into a tube =)

i guess this will be my last shopping spree. need to save up for something. back to my ol' reliable UK muna. LOL!

a pop of neon and some bandage

neon green shirt and cocktail ring given by a friend. thrifted biker jacket. tube used as a bandage skirt. tights from SM. B Club booties. Primadonna cut-off heels. Ray Ban aviators.

sunday is my fave day of the week because i get to rest and relax =) however, this sunday is particularly different because my mom and i cleaned the extension room (of my room) because it is looking like a bodega already! i wanna turn it into a walk-in closet but my mom is such a hoarder and i just cannot do it with her living with me (or is it the other way around? HAHA). so, i really got down and dirty with all the dusts just to see it all clutter-free and spacious for when i am using the mirror and having photo ops for my blog =)

see? its so clean now right? kind of even looks like i'm in a fitting room LOL. behind the curtain (will probably get a nicer curtain if the budget permits) are my shoes =) finally, a nice place for them to rest =)

so anyway, i tried the neon shirt abby gave me and i remembered our conversation during PFW last wednesday about tube tops as the best alternative to bandage skirts. awesome, right?

which one is better? with tights or without it? let me know =)

Healthy Hair is Good Hair

The entire year of 2009 I have been focusing on the health of my hair. Today I used coconut for the first time and I loved it. That got me thinking about how much more of an effort I have been putting into the overall health of my hair instead of styles and length. Looking at before and after pics really encouraged me. In 2005 my hair looked dull and brittle-not to mention, look at those ends! In 2009 I am still not where I want to be but my hair feels softer, looks healthier, and my ends have more intact ones vs splits.
I didn't realize how much time had passed since I first started taking pics of my hair for a FOTKI album. I have been through a lot of trial and error since that time. The internet and discovery of all those hair care sites has been dangerous. Be careful of who you take your advice from. I tried some "treatments" that left me feeling like my scalp and hair were going to slide right off and plop on the floor. The best advice I can give is to listen to your hair and give it what it asks for and not what someone tells you to do. Especially if that person has never seen or touched your hair. Remember what works for one may not work for another. Don't be afraid to keep your routines simple, trying suggestion after suggestion will only slow down your learning process about what your needs and likes. I hope my super simple information helps someone out there. I know my blog is not filled with tons of treatments, regimens, and products but that is because I don't believe in putting so many different elements into a hair care routine. Simple is working for me. The proof is in the pudding!

philippine fashion week (SM runway show)

here's a glimpse of the show:

i've always loved fashion but i've never been to Philippine Fashion Week before so i was so excited when Chonx invited me to the event. however, chonx invited me monday night and the event was wednesday already so i literally slept at 2 am thinking of what to wear. i seriously have no more clothes. SERIOUSLY. so, i've decided to wear my sheer one shoulder dress but then come wednesday and Abby texted me what the whole Philippine Star Features Team was wearing and i had to really rethink my outfit...LAST MINUTE! the bad news was i was in my grandma's house and i have no clothes there except for my pambahay and other pang-tamad clothes. so, just like the old times, naghalungkat ako ng baol ng lola ko just to find something chic yet simple. so...that's the story of my outfit. i felt so underdressed (told abby i looked like i was going to a dinner date instead of fashion week plus i was having a bad hair day PFFFT!)! =( but not really though cos i was with "simple chic" people too and i knew that i was going to PFW again on friday so i totally had time to redeem myself LOL.

about the show, I LOVED IT!!!! i actually wished we were going to watch the SM runway show cos that the only thing that i was interested in wednesday's PFW schedule. SM is such a staple in my wardrobe. even if SM stands for "Sobrang Mahal" nowadays compared to before, it still beats street brands like zara, topshop and even local competitors like bench and penshoppe. plus, i REALLY believe that "they've got everything for you!" too =)

the show was full of sequined, studs, zippers, watercolor and power shoulders. i totally loved the shoes!!! parisian is THE best! i am so excited to get my hands on the heeled oxfords, studded booties and heels! i do hope though that they have it in my size and that it won't be "Sobrang Mahal" LOL

for more stories, read chonx blog here.
special thanks to abby for patiently taking my pics.
