before/after

Hair Salon Havoc

Beautician Mistress MJ is back and shocked by the state of this salon.

I cant turn my back around here for a minute, can I?...

sailor, painter, fly girl

hey lovelies! how was your weekend? mine was the same as last weekend...steady, steady, steady. spent half of the time working out and the other half watching TV. too bad PVR's empty cos of thanksgiving week :(

anyway, remember the 4 boots i got in exchange for the zara boots? well, the 3 other ones i ordered arrived last friday but alas, they didn't look so good in person :(
i only liked one out of the three so i had to return the two...yet again :(
in exchange, i got a knee-high gray boots from spring and  motorcycle boots from H&M :)
a girl can never have enough boots in this kind of weather!!!

this outfit reminded me of a sailor, a painter and a fly girl.
what did this outfit remind you of?

Fall/Winter 2010 - Week 4

For all of week 4 my hair was pulled back into a bun. The bun was originally set while my hair was wet (this is considered 'damp bunning') so as a result, my hair remained moist for about 3 days - my hair holds moisture for quite a while.

Also, since the outdoor and inside air is somewhat dry now this method works great and no, there is never any mildew or sour smell when I do this method. I have heard of this occurring with some individuals but I am not aware of each step of their regimen so I don't have an answer of why the mildew/sour smell happens for some but not for others.

Sunday-Wednesday
Hair was in a bun. The only maintenance was a du-rag at night to keep my edges smooth.

Thursday
Thursday evening I loosened the bun so that I could moisturize the ends of my hair that had gotten dry. I only used some leave-in conditioner on the ends and then immediately styled my hair back into a loose bun.

Friday
Since I would be traveling all day on Saturday, I did my co-wash on Friday night. I used the same method that I mentioned last week (details coming soon). After co-washing I pulled my hair back into a donut bun

Saturday
The bun & du rag at night. Simple maintenance, I love it!

---

The purpose of my weekly documentation is to keep track of what I am doing with my hair down to every detail so that I will be able to determine the steps that are effective for consistent growth and length retention with my hair. Last year I was able to retain enough length so that my hair was longer than it has ever been. I am curious to see if I can do it again.

holiday hair

shooting from the inside

if you live in canada or somewhere cold for that matter, you would totally understand when i tell you that shooting outside is beyond impossible...unless you would want to freeze! yesterday, calgary (-27 degrees C) was ranked as the 2nd coldest place in the world next to south pole, antartica (-35 degrees C). can you believe that??? so us bloggers in this almost antartica weather country would have to settle shooting inside the house :( so forgive me if you'll see the same location over and over again for my winter posts (namely the window, the door, the stairs LOL)...and bad lighting too :( this outfit is not exactly winter appropriate but i don't want to bore my readers seeing me in coats, gloves, scarves and toques all the time (esp. the readers from the PI).

anyway, next week is the calgarian bloggers meet :) i am so excited that ashley of http://lionslacelattes.blogspot.com/ have thought about it and we've both been working on the schedule that would be convenient for everyone :)
here are some fabulous bloggers from calgary who are worth visiting and following:

i can't wait to meet other calgarian bloggers!!! if you are a calgarian blogger, feel free to join us :) contact me at kdfaustino@yahoo.com or ashley at
see you there!!! x

P.S.
i added more photos on my side bar from my beach escapades back home...
because i'll always be an island girl at ?

random photos from cochrane

so here are some random photos from my trip to cochrane last last weekend. the main post is here if you haven't checked it out yet :)

friday was all about dinner and some pre-christmas party hosted by the filipino community in cochrane. saturday was all about the pacquiao fight, of course. we watched the fight at ducks on the roof with fellow filipinos while the mexicans at the bar were pretty sport to accepted their defeat ;)

if last weekend was full of parties since i was out-of-town, this weekend was definitely steady. i officially returned the zara OTK boots i was wearing in this post because they were uncomfy. then i passed by Spring to get some new OTK boots which is like 75% less than the price of the ones from Zara. i also placed some orders to be shipped. overall, i ordered 4 boots for just $149! can you believe it??? the ones from Zara are more expensive than $149!!!! ms. happy giddy shoe shopper me went to the gym after then headed home to watch GG, ANTM and Kell on Earth. saturday was gym day again and movie marathon day (watched Single Man and The Good Guy). sunday was gym day again then headed to deerfoot mall with my sister and benj. i bought 2 new toques and 2 new gloves. i was looking for a winter coat at winners but they do not have my size (for the Anne Klein coat i was eyeing on)...it was only $99...too bad :(

well, that was my weekend...2 weekends in a row.
how was yours?
